Enhanced Windows Backup (version 1.1.1006 and earlier) does not directly allow you to specific that your exchange server should be backed up as part of a backup job. Obviously this is only applicable when backing up servers running exchange server e.g. Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2003 Server or Windows Small Business Server.

However, you can get Enhanced Windows Backup to backup your exchange server by adding a line to the backup selections file manually. For each job in EWBackup there is a corresponding backup selections file stored in the following folder on your computer. Create your job within the Enhanced Windows Application as normal. This will generate the base backup selections file which will be stored in the following folder :
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SoftSwift\Selections\

The selections file name is comprised of the job name with the file type (extension) .BKS.

You can open the backup selections file using the Notepad application included with Windows. You can run this from Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Notepad

Add the following as the final line in the selections file:
JET <ServerName>\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group\
replace <ServerName> with the name of your PC (server) e.g.
JET Server1\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group\

Then save the Backup Selections file. Next time this backup job runs, it will also backup the information store within Exchange including all emails, calender & contact items.

We are considering adding this capability as an option directly from the "Backup Selections" editor within the Enhanced Windows Backup application in a future release.
