1.1.1006 New features and fixes since 1.1.1005
· Improved stability of serial numbers which had caused some customers to have to re-register. In the unlikely event that the serial number of your PC changes, which can be caused by network, hard disk or registry changes, the software issues a warning message at startup and then launches the registration wizard. Customers then need to re-register and re-activate with the new serial number to get a new activation code. This will only happen once because the re-registration uses a stable serial number algorithm which will not change in the future.
· Bug fixed: Backups sometimes don't start at the scheduled time
· New installer
· Better support for prerequisites detection and installation
· Installs "per machine" rather than "per user"
· Better clean up of system on uninstall
· Installation package size has now been shrunk - quicker download
· Updates handling overhauled
· Download progress dialog introduced & bug fixes
· Updates window does not pop-up on top of registration wizard at startup
· Automatic updates do not pop-up unexpectedly but invite the user to review updates by showing a notification balloon
· Updates download is now more reliable and faster
· Upgrade installs now correctly replace the previous application
· No longer accesses the floppy drive on startup (quicker startup)
· Automatic Launch option in options menu directly reflects the state of the registry key used to launch EWBackup (rather than a value stored in the config xml file)
· Software detects if changes to the registry key used to auto-launch have been intercepted by protection/security software and issues a dialog warning about this
· Exceptions are handled more reliably and allow the error to be cut and pasted into an email
· New 'manual edit' button introduced to manually change the Backup Destination Folder. This allows more reliable verification when backup destination folders are changed
· More reliable operation in the backup engine of the postpone/resume functionality when the destination folder goes offline
· Full EULA can be reviewed from the freeware startup screen by clicking the word 'EULA'
· Bug fixed: Fatal Exception "Length of argument 'String' must be greater than zero at Microsoft.VisualBasic.Strings.Asc(String,String)"
· Last Ran date is now shown correctly as blank when the job has not run before. Previously is showed 1/1/2000
· Backup engine will not allow jobs to start when their settings or selections are being changed.
· The Start/Stop buttons are now permanently enabled to fix a bug. The buttons only take action if appropriate at the current time. The action is confirmed by an entry in the log.
· The default mode (under options) for the NTBackup window is "hidden" for new installs.
