12012 Error: Activation Code not valid for this system Author: Products: URL: /Support_Kb.aspx?kbname=error-activation-code-not-valid Created: 22-Sep-2005 Last updated: 22-Sep-2005
If you receive the error "Activation Code not valid for this system" in the registration and activation wizard at step 3 when you try to enter the Activation Code that you have been emailed, it means that you have typed the activation code wrongly, or that you are trying to enter an activation code that has been issued for a different system. Activation Codes are specific to each individual PC and you can only use the activation code that was derived from the unique serial number of the software on the PC on which is has been installed. Activation codes consist of 3 blocks of 5 letters, separated by hyphens e.g. PGHKX-SJREN-RZMFC. The codes only use letters from the english alphabet in upper case. You cannot enter in lower case and no numerical characters are used. If you think its a 2 (two), its probably a 'Z', if you think is a 0 (zero) its probably an 'O', if you think its a 1 (one) its probably an 'I' etc. If you are receiving this error but believe that you have entered the activation code correctly as issued for this PC, then please raise a support incident and provide the activation code.
